Acupuncture for Fertility

Acupuncture, herbs, and nutrition have been used for thousands of years to optimize and restore fertility.

We work with couples at every stages of their journey to parenthood. Studies show that acupuncture can increase the chances that assisted reproductive technologies (ART) will result in a live birth by 10 to 15 percent or more.

Whether you are trying to conceive naturally or going through assisted reproductive procedures such as IVF or IUI, the proper utilization of acupuncture, herbs, and nutrition has been clinically proven to significantly increase your chances of a successful pregnancy.

Chinese medicine modalities have been clinically shown to:

  • Regulate the menstrual cycle
  • Improve egg quality
  • Increase blood flow to the uterus and improving the chances of implantation
  • Normalize hormone and the endocrine systems that regulate ovulation
  • Reduce anxiety and stress that can significantly decrease fertility

Our approach starts with a careful evaluation to uncover any underlying factors that may be preventing you from conceiving or maintaining a pregnancy. We also help you navigate your fertility journey and support you in choosing your best treatment options.

Conditions we treat:

  • Unexplained Infertility
  • Advanced Maternal Age
  • Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
  • Endometriosis
  • Poor Ovarian Reserve
  • Elevated FSH
  • Poor Egg Quality
  • Premature Ovarian Failure
  • Recurrent Miscarriage
  • Endometriosis
  • Uterine Fibroids
  • Luteal Phase Defect
  • Thyroid/Autoimmune Issues
  • Amenorrhea

For optimal results, start treatments 3 months (or ASAP) before you are trying to conceive, or before your IUI/IVF procedure, especially if there are hormone, autoimmune, advance maternal age or implantation factors.

I started my acupuncture treatment with Annie about 3 years ago after a miscarriage. I have a 1-year old now. Annie is a warm and supportive acupuncturist during my fertility treatment journey: 1. I was pretty stressed out with fertility and also work at that time. Every week I went to the treatment, Annie listened to my stress and pain and shared her insights. I usually fell asleep during the acupuncture and woke up feeling charged. It was always a good relief talking with her. 2. She was very resourceful and share information about diet, exercise and other doctors. I read a lot of books about fertility and found out Annie has already summarized everything. 3. I always feel lighter and more comfortable after the acupuncture. Qi seems to flow better in my body. It's a valuable journey and experience. I highly recommend Annie.

My OB recommended Annie Wang Acupuncture, which specializes in fertility and pregnancy acupuncture, to treat various hormonal imbalances. I had not tried acupuncture before, felt apprehensive about needles, and let a few months pass by before giving it a chance. I shouldn't have waited for so long! I'm now 32 weeks pregnant and Annie has been a both a great aid and an ally in helping me prevent or alleviate most pregnancy symptoms. Annie is profoundly knowledgable, yet her advice is practical and down-to-earth. I'm constantly learning from our talks (she even gifted me a pregnancy book at the beginning of my second trimester!). Upon coming to her office, she greets me with a warm smile, takes time to listen to my concerns, and tailors the treatment to my evolving needs. The 45-60 minute sessions take place in a cozy room with a heated bed, soft blankets and relaxing background music. I've tried other members of Annie's team and they have been wonderful, too. I wholeheartedly recommend Annie Wang to treat any particular ailment or to increase your overall health. Each visit is a true healing experience and worth the investment!

I have to admit I wasn't a believer in Eastern treatments when I went in to see Annie for the first time a couple years ago, but Annie has made a believer out of me. I was afraid of the needles (although acting brave), and didn't have the first clue how it all worked. But I was ready to try anything to address my fertility issues, and not only was Annie's technique flawless (making her needles palatable even to one such as me), but she was refreshingly, how do I put this, not-overly-Eastern (even though she's fluent in Chinese and profoundly knowledgeable in Eastern medicine). From Annie, I learned the meaning of holistic, and she helped me turn my health around, not only with treatments to address my digestive and overall balance issues, but with diet and exercise counseling that worked for me, where advice from Western doctors had previously failed (I'm not great at taking advice, even from doctors, and yet I find Annie's counsel invaluable). She provides the right amount of explanation and answers questions clearly regarding her treatment approach, which takes into consideration treatments/tests being performed by my Western doctors as well as her own assessment of me and my complaints. Even her recommended reading has been spot on. As if technique, skill and knowledge weren't enough, she's also so very relate-able (like a third sister to me), and flexible enough to tailor treatments to my comfort level, while challenging me at the same time. It doesn't happen overnight, or in a single treatment, but bottom line is that she helped me get into the best health of my life prior to getting pregnant, and we're expecting our first child any day now.
